Additionally, the city is known for its cleanliness and safety, which is a significant advantage.

Singapore is a top destination for everyone, with a mix of Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences and a touch of the West. This blend is reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals. Where to stay in Singapore?  

During my 3 days in Singapore, I stayed at the Oasia Hotel Downtown, ideally located in the business district and within walking distance of vibrant Chinatown. This stunning design hotel with modern amenities offers the ultimate relaxation, both physically and mentally. The rooms are as impressive as the view, with a sleek and minimalist design that exudes pure tranquility and comfort. The absolute highlights are the two magnificent rooftop pools, one of which is an infinity pool with a spectacular view of the Singapore skyline.

Tip: Due to the tropical warm and humid climate, a hotel with a pool is a must. And if you’re choosing a pool, opt for a hotel with a rooftop infinity pool. This way, you can enjoy a refreshing swim while taking in a breathtaking view of the city.

The best things to do in Singapore 

Do you have limited time but still want to explore as much of Singapore as possible? Then consider taking a fun tour, with or without a guide! Gardens by the bay 

One of the absolute must-sees in Singapore is undoubtedly Gardens by the Bay! This enchanting park, located in the heart of the city, magically combines nature and technology. With various themed gardens and iconic attractions, it offers an unforgettable experience both during the day and at night.

Explore the Flower Dome, the largest glass greenhouse in the world, filled with Mediterranean plants and flowers. Be mesmerized by the Cloud Forest, where a tropical mountain landscape with an impressive waterfall and rare plants awaits you.

The Supertrees, futuristic vertical gardens up to 50 meters high, are another highlight. Walk along the Skyway, an elevated path between the Supertrees, and enjoy spectacular views.

In the evening, Gardens by the Bay truly comes alive with the Garden Rhapsody, a free light and sound show at the Supertrees. Watch as these iconic structures light up and dance to music in a magical spectacle you don’t want to miss.

An absolute must-see in Singapore is the iconic Marina Bay Sands resort. This impressive complex is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Singapore’s skyline. It consists of three imposing towers connected by a massive rooftop, where you’ll find the SkyPark and the famous infinity pool (for hotel guests only). From here, you have a breathtaking view of the city and the bay.

Marina Bay Sands is more than a resort. It is a complete entertainment complex offering numerous activities for both visitors and hotel guests. Enjoy luxury shopping at the extensive mall featuring high-end brands and boutiques. Discover a wide range of dining options, from casual cafes to award-winning restaurants with world-renowned chefs.

For entertainment, visit the casino or enjoy Broadway shows and concerts at the theater. Art enthusiasts can delight in the ArtScience Museum, which combines innovative exhibitions with groundbreaking technology.

Are you a nature lover? Then the Singapore Botanic Gardens and the National Orchid Garden are absolute must-sees! Changi Airport 

Flying out of Changi Airport or have a short layover? It’s definitely worth spending a few hours exploring the attractions within Changi Airport. Known as one of the best airports in the world, Changi offers much more than just terminals. Jewel Changi, an enormous complex with a breathtaking indoor waterfall, the Rain Vortex, is a must-see. This 40-meter-high waterfall is surrounded by lush gardens and walking trails, making you feel like you’re in a tropical paradise.

Additionally, you can enjoy the Canopy Park with its flower dome, mirror maze, and slides for the kids. Don’t miss the various art installations and the butterfly garden, a serene spot filled with exotic butterflies. Changi also offers luxury shops, spas, and a cinema, making your layover fly by. Even with a short time between flights, Changi is a destination in itself.

Merlion Park 

Merlion Park is one of the most iconic attractions in Singapore and an absolute must-visit! Located along the waterfront of Marina Bay, it is home to the famous Merlion statue, a fascinating creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. This unique statue symbolizes Singapore’s rich history as a fishing village and its nickname “Lion City.”

When visiting Merlion Park, you can not only admire the iconic statue but also take fantastic photos with the breathtaking Singapore skyline in the background. Enjoy stunning views of Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the Esplanade as you stroll along the promenade.

Chinatown in Singapore is a vibrant and colorful neighborhood you must explore! It offers a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Stroll through lively streets filled with beautiful old shophouses and trendy eateries. You’ll also find numerous stalls with unique souvenirs, handmade jewelry, authentic Chinese herbs, and of course, street food. Katon and Joo chiat

These covered markets, established in the 1970s, are an essential part of Singaporean culture. A visit to one or more hawker centres is a must during your city trip to Singapore. Here are my favorites:

A must-visit is Lau Pa Sat, located in the business district. This historic building, with beautiful Victorian architecture, offers a mix of local and international dishes. Be sure to try the famous satay skewers here.

Another favorite is Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown, known for Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, loved by chef Anthony Bourdain. You can also find delicious dim sum here.

Old Airport Road Food Centre, one of the oldest, offers classic dishes like wanton mee and char kway teow.

Chinatown Complex Food Centre, the largest hawker centre, offers a vast variety of dishes. Try Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle, the first hawker stall to earn a Michelin star.
