The last few years we have traveled a lot. That is why I would like to list up the 5 most magical destinations I have ever visited.
5 – Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina
In the fifth place is the enchanting town of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This city is best known for its beautiful old Ottoman bridge the Stari Most and unfortunately also for its brutal war past. Besides the many confronting traces of the recent Bosnian war, there is so much to discover in this city. The most surprising element of Mostar according to me is the unique culture, born from a mix of the old Ottoman elements and many contemporary European features. Are you planning a vacation in this area? Then I can definitely recommend you to put Mostar on your itinerary . Read here what you can experience in and around Mostar.
4 – Merzouga in Morocco
One of the most magical experiences of the past year for us was to camp in a tent in the middle of the Sahara desert in Merzouga. Even though we had imagined this trip to be more romantic, yet it remains one of the most unforgettable moments today. We witnessed a beautiful orange sunset over the impressive sand dunes. That is something we don’t see every day. It made us think about all the beauty the world has to offer and how much we still have to explore. It even made us forget all the stress. Afterwards we enjoyed a beautiful sky filled with stars by the campfire. This was the perfect ending to an enchanting moment. 3 – Spello in Italy
One of our most adventurous and special hiking trails was that from Assisi to Spello. Due to our impulsive character, we chose the most challenging route of 17.6 km. Of course we had underestimated this trail just a litte bit. It contains steep, difficult climbs, but also sturdy descents. Fortunately it was all worth it, because we were rewarded with the most beautiful views over the Italian landscape of Umbria. As icing on cake we arrived in the enchanting medieval town of Spello where it looked like time had stopped. If you are looking for an adventurous and authentic weekend getaway, take a look at our three-day itineray for Umbria.
2 – Addo Elephant Park in South Africa
The most recent magical destination was definitely our visit to the Addo Elephant Park as part of our Garden route roadtrip in South Africa. A safari had been on our bucket list for a long time. When we finally drove through the park with our car to spot animals, it felt unreal. A long-awaited dream that finally came to fulfillment. Even though we have not seen all of the big five. This certainly didn’t make our visit less satisfying. 1 – Indein in Myanmar
At the top of my list with the 5 most magical destinations, Indein in Myanmar is still number 1 even after two years. This place is so spectacular that it is very difficult to beat. Indein is a historical, religious city along Inle lake. It consists of hundreds of different pagodas in all shapes and colors. Walking through Indein was as if we had landed in fairy tale. It was hard to take it all in, in such a short time. I can’t even describe in words how impressive this place is. Here we could also buy the most beautiful artisan souvenirs in whole Myanmar, on the local market. In short, it was an unbelievable stunning place. Would you like to know more about Indein or which places are still worth a visit in Myanmar? Then read the blog post about my top 5 must do’s in Myanmar.
